Navigating Turbulence ~ Until Collision
2026 (WIP)
Video installation and soundpiece, essay, print series.
Anchored in the Baltic Sea’s late-winter, Navigating Turbulence brings artistic and scientific perspectives into dialogue around sea ice research, combining field encounters and experiments at the Aalto Ice and Wave Tank. Navigating Turbulence is an ongoing series of projects developed by Findji+Gras.
The second chapter entitled Until Collision (in progress!) will be composed of a video installation and a sound piece, as well as an essay and series of prints.
The project investigates sea ice ecologies and its entanglement with human-made infrastructures, such as offshore wind turbines and icebreaking vessels.
By juxtaposing prediction models with the threatened existence of sea ice, the work traces how knowledge shifts across scales and time, from the controlled lab to in situ environments.
It showcases a frozen seascape and its communities under climatic pressure, entangled with global trade and the green energy transition. The project opens a space to reflect on the future of sea ice, bioresilience, and the infrastructures we construct to navigate an increasingly uncertain world.
